Interstate’s anti-icing and pre-treating programs are designed to greatly reduce and often eliminate liability relating to slip and fall injuries during the winter season. Depending on weather and environmental conditions we have four liquid products in our arsenal, these products are environmentally friendly and contain anti-corrosive inhibitors. Granular & Liquid De-icing
Our proprietary blended North Pro de-icer is a unique natural mixture of 4 chlorides and 15 trace minerals that make up our road salt. North Pro is a solid crystal organic de-icer that contains no harsh added chemicals and is ideal for extreme Midwest winters. Melting to -5 degrees Fahrenheit, our road salt is more effective, even at much lower temperatures while using up to 40% less product compared to rock salt. The optimal pink solid crystal size and shape reduces bounce and scatter when properly spread allowing for North Pro to stay where it belongs, in your parking lot and not in your landscape and turf.

Liquid De-icing
Our legendary organic liquid de-icing products melt snow and ice fast and efficiently. These same products can enhance and increase the effectiveness of granular de-icing products when extreme temperatures and conditions exist. The use of liquid products greatly reduces the amount of granular salt needed to melt snow and ice thus lowering the chloride impact at your property and reducing service cost.

The Right Amount of Deicer, Every Time

At Interstate we use an advanced computerized deicer disbursement system to calculate and control the amount of deicer applied to your parking lots and sidewalks. Exact deicer calculations ensure that we do not use unnecessary amounts of deicer at your facility. A little goes a long way, we only use the amount of deicer needed to get the job done — reducing the chloride impact on the environment and saving you money.
No Interstate customer has ever gone without deicer, nor have they been charged a premium during a deicer shortage. We are one of the very few snow and ice management companies in Minnesota that can proudly say we have never run out of deicer. While the rest of the industry is reliant upon the river system for delivery of their product and stops receiving deicer once the river freezes over — we transport all of our deicer by railway. Transporting our deicer by railway ensures that our deicer supply is replenished and filled to the brim all winter long, no matter what Mother Nature throws at us.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) has adopted the use of liquid deicing products as an effective tool to lower deicing costs and increase safety.
